What pressure should 225/40R18 be inflated to?

Passenger cars are usually between 2.0 and 2.5 bar, and the maker may ask for more when the car is loaded. Check it monthly with the tyres cold — low pressure costs fuel and wears the tyre out.

When should a tyre be replaced?

Replace a summer tyre by 1.6 mm of tread and a winter tyre by about 4 mm; when the tread has worn down to the wear bars the tyre is finished. Whatever its age, a tyre with a cracked, bulging or deformed sidewall is not fit to use.
